The Roundwalk of Velino - Velino Parikarama

6th edition
Saturday 5 September 2009 (Abruzzo)

"The nearer you come to the real matter, stone, air, fire and wood, dear friend, the more spiritual the world becomes"
(Gary Snyder)

Departure: on Saturday September 5th, 2009 at dawn, from Fonte Canale.

To whom it is addressed: the event is open to all friends, though it isn’t for all (it is for those who can free themselves from their habits, those who want to grow up, those who can get lost, and those who can walk).

Rules: it isn’t the usual excursion, rather a meditative wandering on the track of Zen pilgrimages, of Tibetan Koras and Hindu Parikaramas. This excursion is to be done with Gary Snyder’s lay and westerly spirit (see “The Dharma Vagabonds” by Jack Kerouac, where Snyder is the protagonist under an alias).
Everyone is asked to walk alone (or at most in small quiet groups if just one cannot help), limiting the contacts with the others till the end of the walk.
Along the way there are some stations where each one is invited to a break, a meditation, a pause.
You are advised to print the list of the stations and bring it with you.

Notice: it isn’t a walk for all, you’ll need concentration, awareness, experience, condition, spirit of adventure. Not all the paths are marked. There is water only at Santa Maria in Valle (if there isn’t water in the fountain ask the b&b), at Fonte Canale and at Massa d’Albe.
The differences in level are over 1500 m both in ascent and descent. The walking hours may be 10-12 or more, though there aren’t technical or risky crossings. In the scale of excursional difficulties, consider the top difficulty (5 tracks Boscaglia).

Important: this event has no organization, it is not organized by La Boscaglia which has no role in this; it is a spontaneous event (like Critical mass, if you know…). Therefore there are no organizers to give information at the start, there are no services of assistance or help, there are no signposts or flags on the way, etc. Consider it, before entering your name.
